Natural Health Store Manager

Salaried position reporting to Directors – salary negotiable but will be sufficiently attractive to get the person we want. Bonuses and profit sharing based on performance is also an option.

The Person

Must have experience in all aspects of retail at a management level.

Will be prepared and able to accept full responsibility for the day to day running of a busy retail franchise specialising in a niche market in the retail health industry.

Experience in Pharmacy, health or sports retail an advantage but not essential.

Ongoing training essential so person must be want to learn and have a genuine desire to continually improve product knowledge.

Principal Duties -

  1. Customer Service is a priority.Maintaining a quality experience for our client base.
  2. Staff management, rosters, training and motivation/team building/communication.
  3. Daily management/supervision/planning of all work routines.
  4. Ordering of stock and stock control.
  5. Co-ordinating and booking advertising to support in-store promotions, tastings and displays.
  6. Working to achieve budget sales and keeping costs within budget.
  7. Working with Directors to increase profitability of the company.
  8. Monitoring POS system.
  9. Overseeing the maintenance and cleaning of the company's premises.
  10. Making sure company complies with all franchise requirements, regulations, licences and legal requirements.
  11. Reporting to Directors on all aspects of the business.

Full Job Description of Retail Manager

 Salaried position reporting to Directors for the successful operation of the 3 retail centres operated by Down to Earth Ltd. Health 2000, Health 2000 Town clock and Village Antiques.

The Retail Manager is expected to lead the team from the front, delegating as necessary but accepting responsibility that comes with management. Directors will be available to assist when necessary if required by the Retail Manager.

The Retail Manager is required to have a current –

  • Drivers licence
  • Food Hygiene Certificate

AND

  • Complete all training Health 2000 training modules relevant to the managers position.

The Retail Manager is responsible to the Directors for –

Customer Service

  • Maintain a very high level of customer service.
  • Monitor, educate and motivate staff to deliver customer service at the required level.
  • Ensure everyone entering the business is greeted appropriately as soon as possible after entering the premises and enquiries made as to how we can assist them.
  • Monitor and work to improve staff KPI's.
  • Make sure customer orders are actioned promptly by staff members responsible.
  • Deal effectively with customer complaints.

Staff control

  • Prepare rosters to ensure shop is adequately staff at all times.
  • Keeping staff costs within budget.
  • Deal with staffing issues.
  • Assist directors to interview and appoint new staff.
  • Take over weekly staff training sessions.
  • Oversee completion of Health 2000 and supplier staff training modules.
  • Pay weekly wages.
  • Allocate duties.
  • Lead team by example, develop and maintain staff motivation.

Stock Control

  • Delegate suppliers and areas of responsibility to staff members to look after under supervision of manager.
  • Make sure stock received is correctly entered into POS system.
  • Make sure Agrisure requirements are being adhered to.
  • Deal with sales reps., make recommendations on new products.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels without exceeding predetermined budgeted stock levels. Particular care required to make sure fast selling lines are always in stock.
  • Review and take action to sell through slow moving lines and prevent re-orders.
  • Organise regular stocktakes and report to directors of any missing stock or stock write offs.
  • Oversee the companies internal control measures.

Advertising & Promotions

  • Work with Directors to prepare and negotiate advertising.
  • Approach suppliers to obtain advertising co-op payments
  • Planning and implementing instore promotions, tastings, displays to maximise local and national advertising campaigns.
  • Plan staff training to take maximum advantage of promotions.
  • Develop and implement with Directors a marketing plan to our data base.

Monitoring Performance & Budget Control

  • Working to achieve budgeted sales targets.
  • Monitoring costs to keep within budget.
  • Review of monthly performance to budget figures with directors to identify and correct problems and maximise opportunities.

Agrisure Certification

  • Maintain the systems documented in the companies Agrisure manual
  • Maintain records required for annual Agrisure audit.
  • Maintain Agrisure internal  audits

POS System

  • Maintain POS system
  • Make sure staff are trained in the correct use of POS system.
  • Working with POS system to maximise all aspects of the companies businesses.

Health 2000 Licence Agreement

  • Operate the business in a manner consistent with the Health 2000 Licence.
  • Use the buying and marketing advantages obtained through the Health 2000 licence to maximise efficiency and profitability.

Communication with Directors

  • Organise a weekly meeting with Directors (less than 1 hour) to discuss issues that have arisen and plan the coming weeks activities.
  • Plan with directors ways to maximise the profitability of company.
  • Plan weekly staff training sessions.
  • Review weekly / monthly trading results.

Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Make sure company complies with all food hygiene regulations, licences and legal requirements.
  • Monitor cleaning schedules to make sure they are correctly implemented.
  • Make sure day to day maintenance done, particularly with regards recycling, replacing light bulbs, plants, weeding and lawns.
  • Oversee the monitoring of refrigeration temperature check charts.
  • Report to directors on any building maintenance required.
